I represented New Zealand at the Oceania Para Games held in the Solomon Islands 17th to 20th November 2023. I had a fantastic experience meeting players from other countries and learnt a lot. My best achievement there was winning two bronze medals, one in the Singles Classes 9-10 event and the other in the Doubles Classes 6 – 10 event.
This was my first international campaign, one I will never forget. Standing on the podium to be awarded medals for playing the sport that you love at this level is a feeling like no other. I felt proud to be a Para sports person and so proud to be a Kiwi.
I would like to sincerely thank Vulcan Steel, ILT Foundation and Community Trust South for help with funding to help with my travel expenses. I also appreciate support from my local table tennis community and support from Table Tennis Southland.
Thank you so much for helping me realise my dreams. I will be forever grateful.
